Expectations and Application

Mission: To support Paonia businesses, economic development, and our quality of life

Responsibilities of the Board of Directors include:

  • Provide leadership and advertisement for the Chamber of Commerce
  • Actively engage in the community in promoting the Chamber
  • Oversee program planning and evaluation as well as personnel hiring and evaluation
  • Develop sustainable fundraising and outreach
  • Be familiar with the Chamber financial needs, budget, and policies and procedures
  • Keep records of all actions of the Board and Chamber affairs
  • Keep up-to-date on developments affecting the Chamber, the Paonia area, and the North Fork Valley
  • Serve on a committee or task force and take on special assignments as needed

Meetings and Time Commitments:

  • Following the Attendance Policy Guidelines, Board members are required to:
  • Attend Bi-monthly Board meetings, which are approximately 2 hours each, and special meetings
  • Review agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings, ask questions, take responsibility and follow through on a given assignment
  • Attend the Annual Membership meeting in December, typically 2-3 hours
  • Attend specific committee meetings
  • Attend functions, such as special events

General Expectations:

  • Participate actively in ongoing fundraising
  • It is expected that opinions expressed by the Directors will be of a civil and cordial manner
  • Decisions of the Board shall be supported by all Directors, regardless of the outcome of any particular vote
